Sorrento

Using Sorrento as a base location for exploring, the Amalfi coast is a great idea.

We prefer the Sorrento Hilton Palace for the services available, on site restaurants, bars, swimming pool, but there are other excellent hotels that are more downtown and provide easy access to local restaurants and the Marina.

We simply grab a taxi straight to the marina or to Piazza Tassso when we want to explore the local restaurants, shops and Gelateria’s.

Don’t miss dinner under the lemon trees at O Parrucchiano La Favorita.

Of course, a boat tour of Capri should be on your list, as an alternative you could simply take the ferry across and enjoy Capri for the day, but you won’t see the grotto’s or the famous Faraglioni di Mezzo (the middle rock), which features the iconic natural arch you can boat right through.

You also want to grab a ferry and head over to Positano and Amalfi

If you want to visit Ravello, I highly recommend a ferry to Amalfi and then a taxi up the hill to Ravello

One of our favorite things is just heading into town starting at Piazza Tasso and exploring all the back alleys and the wonderful restaurants and shops.

There is an excellent rooftop restaurant and bar called Bellavista Cocktail

Bar at Hotel La Favorita. Just tell the taxi driver, Hotel La Favorita and he’ll take you right there.

But our favorite restaurant is just a few steps away from Hotel La Favorita, which is Inn Bufalito.

If you walk towards the sea from Hotel La Favorita you can locate the lift down to Marina level and explore the several resorts down at Marina level or catch a ferry.

Don’t try to walk back up to town from the marina just take a taxi. Trust me on this.
